Publication Analytics

Beacon’s integration with Google Analytics allows you to measure traffic to the Smart PDF version of your lead magnet.

To start recording analytics you must first connect your Google Analytics account. To do this, click the ‘publish’ button of your chosen lead magnet:

Next, select ‘Smart PDF’

In the Smart PDF section, paste your Google Analytics ID.

Please note that analytics are not updated in real time.

How to import HubSpot blog posts into Beacon

Step 1
Visit the
Lead Magnet dashboard and click ‘create new’

Step 2
Select a format of lead magnet. You can import content from HubSpot into any of these lead magnet formats.

Step 3
When prompted to “Import Blog Content”, select “yes”

Step 4
Choose HubSpot from the platform selection screen

Step 5
You will then be asked to ‘Connect To HubSpot’. Once you click the yellow button you will taken to HubSpot.

Step 6
Sign in to your HubSpot Account

Step 7
If you have more than one HubSpot account associated with your email address, choose the account that you want to import content from.

Step 8
Once you select your account, you will then be taken back to Beacon where you can select which blog posts you want to import. Feel free to choose as many posts as you want to include. When you are happy with your selections, click “Continue”

Step 9
Choose a template for your lead magnet. All templates can be customised to match you brand.

Step 10

Give your lead magnet a title and click ‘Create Lead Magnet’

Importing Blog Posts via URL

There are two ways to import blog content by pasting the web address.

Method One: When Creating a New Publication

First, visit the Lead Magnet Dashboard and click the ‘create new’ button:

After you choose your lead magnet format, click ‘yes’ to import content from your blog.

Next, choose ‘other’ from the options listed and paste the web address of your blog post.

You can import as many blog posts so when you’re happy with your selection click the yellow ‘Continue’ button:

Method Two: Adding Imported Content to an Existing Publication

To add imported content to an existing publication, click the ‘add page’ button in the Beacon editor.

Select the ‘import’ option.

Paste the web address of your blog post and click ‘import’

Text Card

The Text Card should be used when you want to add paragraphs of text to your page. 

Text Card Menu

The blue Text Menu appears when you click on a Text Card within the page. These are the available options in the Text Card menu:

Text Color
Choose the color of the text within the Text Card.

Font
Choose the typeface that will be used for the Text Card.

Font Size
Increase or decrease the size of the text within the Text Card.

Link Color
If your text card contains any links, you can set the color of those links with this setting.

Formatting Menu

When a Text Card is selected on the page, the formatting menu will appear above the page:

The formatting menu for Headline Cards contains the following options:

  • Format (heading, normal text etc)

  • Bold

  • Italic

  • Table

  • Link

  • List

  • Image insert

  • Video embed

  • Checklist

Headline Card

The Headline Card should be used when you want to add a short title to your page. 

Headline cards cannot be used to add text elements like lists or tables. To add these elements you should use a Text Card.

Headline Card Menu

The blue Headline Card menu appears when you click on a Headline within the page. These are the available options in the Headline Card menu:

Text Color
Choose the color of the text within the Headline Card.

Font
Choose the typeface that will be used for the Headline Card.

Font Size
Increase or decrease the size of the text within the Headline Card.

Line Height
If your headline text flows onto several lines you can increase or decrease the spacing between the lines with this setting. Drag the slider left to decrease line height, drag the slider right to increase line height.

Text Shadow
Use this setting to add a shadow behind the headline text. This is helpful for making the headline text stand out against the background. Particularly useful if the text appears directly on top of a photographic background.

Formatting Menu

When a Headline Card is selected on the page, the formatting menu will appear above the page:

The formatting menu for Headline Cards contains the following options:

  • Bold

  • Italic

  • Link

  • Text algin

Why can’t Beacon import my blog post?

If you received this error message

“Sorry, it looks like we can’t import that post. Please try another URL or check this article for help.”

then Beacon was unable to import your blog post.

Image Card

The Image Card should be used when you want to add individual images to a page.

Image Card Menu

The blue Image Card menu is shown when you click on an Image Card within the page. These are the available options in the Image Card menu:

Image
The image that will be displayed on the page. This is a placeholder image by default. To change the placeholder just click the ‘change image’ button.

Width
Drag the slider to change the size of your image.

Alignment
Your image can appear on the left, center or right side of the page.

Quote Card

The Quote Card should be used when you want to draw attention to a person’s quote.

Quote Card Menu

The blue Quote Card menu is shown when you click on a Quote within the page. These are the available options in the Quote Card menu:

Quote
The piece of text that you will be referencing.

Source
Who said the quote?

Text Color
Choose the color of the text within the Quote Card.

Font
Choose the typeface that will be used for both the Quote and the Source.

Font Size
Increase or decrease the size of the text within the Quote Card.

Background Color
Set your quotation on a colored background. By default there is no background color set.

Border Color
A border will appear down the left hand side of your quotation by default. Change the color of the border with this setting.

Button Card

The Button Card should be used when you want to give the reader a button to click on. This could be used as part of a call to action or as a general way to link people to another web address.

Button Card Menu

The Button Card menu is shown when you click on a Button within the page. These are the available options in the Button Card menu:

Text Color
Choose the color of the text within the button.

Font
Choose the typeface that will be used for the button.

Font Size
Increase or decrease the size of the text within the button.

Background Color
Choose the color of the actual button.

Border Color
If your button has a border you can choose the color here. If you do not want your button to have a border just drag the transparency slider to the left hand side:

Style
There are 3 available styles for your button:

  • Default – a button with rounded corners and a heavy bottom border

  • Round – heavily rounded corners

  • Square – no rounded corners

Alignment
Align your button to the left, the center or the right hand side of the page.

Text
The text that will appear inside your button. Default text is ‘button’

Link
When a reader clicks the button, where should they be directed? This link should be a web page and should always start with http:// or https://
